IDENTITY

I know now

like soldiers dressed in finery

Red Badges of Courage

Purple Hearts

mean little

worn outwardly

Camouflage pain endured

others run from

could never handle

Rather than bury my own

in a grave somewhere

I offer such now

to the Wind Sky and God

I am not

What I’ve Survived

Though refined by

Fires

burning in Hell
