TireSide

ANYMORE

ANYMORE

I wake up
Quiet
on my side of the Lace
There’s a tire outside
I bide my
Time
searching for the place
Next to run to
Where will I roam
Take down the curtains
This isn’t Home
Anymore
Where was that Moment
I realized the Lie?
Did it only burn me
When I made known
The Crime?

Shhh
Don’t you tell
the truth about
our sleepy little town
Pack your bags
Don’t look back
Run away
before the locals
ring the Death Knell
Please forgive me
won’t you please,
Ghost of Grandma?
I tried so hard
to plant Poetry
in what was once
Fallow Ground
but tornadoes
 came on through
devastating all we
loved and knew
leaving me
with scattered dreams
and Imaginary Triumph

Sunset comes on
I sit down
Silent
gasping for my breath
There’s a broken car outside
I’m out of Time
trying to resurrect the Past

Where will I go?
I don’t know
Load up the boxes
This I know
Here
isn’t Home
Anymore
